Our Mission Statement

generational needs of the Japanese American community of the South Bay area
through educational, cultural and social programs by:
•Providing
programs and activities, sensitive and relevant, to the needs of our senior
citizens and youth;
•Offering use of facilities and support to community
organizations that fosters the best interests and welfare of the community and
•Promoting an environment for better inter-generational understanding,
cultural pride and respect for all humanity.
"As a community center with a large variety of classes and activities, the GVJCI promotes and perpetuates the martial arts, cultural arts, language, and Japanese American history. James Yabe brings his great experience in the Shotokan martial arts form and its values to share with the youth and adults within the wider community as well . We are very fortunate to have such a committed teacher."
